TROPHY™ FISH FINDER BAIT RIGS aka “SLIDER RIGS”

Fish Finder Slider Bait Rigs are made for fishing bait chunks, crabs, clams and worms plus livelining baitfish and live eels. They can be used in both fresh and saltwater, from boats, shoreline, surf, jetties, piers and docks.

These rigs allow a fish to “take” your bait without feeling the pressure of the weight. Available with Octopus, Baitholder and Circle hooks. It is an ideal rig to use with a circle hook.

TOURNAMENT TROPHY™ FISH FINDER SLIDER RIG

Designed and fabricated specifically to allow live baits to swim naturally or your cut bait to float freely. The rig will easily pivot at the strike of a fish and permit you to apply pressure from any direction without failing. This is especially important with large hard fighting fish and fish that have a tendency to “jump.”

Tournament Trophy™ Fish Finder Slider Bait Rigs are available with 60 pound (27.2 kg) test clear Momoi Hi-Catch® Monofilament or Seaguar® Fluorocarbon and the hook of your choice attached by a traditional full Snell knot (picture) for assured strength and direct pull. The terminal end is designed for maximum shock, extreme pressure and pull on the barrel swivel, leader chafing protection and quick changeover by a unique fabrication of “offshore” components. These include a Spring Loop Line Protector through the eye of the black 150 pound (68 kg) test Trophy™ Crane Barrel Swivel swaged on with Silver Lok Aluminum sleeves. Leader lengths from 6 inches to 4 feet (15.2 cm to 1.22 meters).

STANDARD FISH FINDER SLIDER RIG

Standard Fish Finder Slider Rigs are made with 60 pound (27.2 kg) test clear Momoi Hi-Catch® Monofilament however the terminal ends with the Crane Barrel Swivel is attached with Palomar knots rather than line protectors and aluminum sleeves. Leader lengths from 9 inches to 5 feet (22.9 cm to 1.5 meters). Also available up to 12 feet (3.66 meters). Price on Request.

Each rig include a Heavy Duty (Braid Proof) Fish Finder slide with 150 pound (68 kg) test DuoLock snap, plastic beads (black or red) which allow the Fish Finder to slide freely. You place the Fish Finder on your main line or shock leader. Coiled and packed in a heavy duty (4mm) re-sealable clear plastic pouch.

RECOMMENDED HOOK SIZES & TYPES

The type and size of the hook is dependent on the type of fishing and the species of fish you will be targeting.

Circle hooks are ideal when fishing from a boat or a fixed position such as the surf or a jetty. Do not immediately set the hook when a pickup is detected. Allow fish a short run before applying full pressure. In order for a circle hook to work properly the fish must pick up the bait and make a turn away. Circle hooks set themselves over fish's lip through the jaw (picture). Do not bury the hook's point and barb in your bait, it must be exposed (refer to Circle Hooks "Centripetal Acceleration" on StriperSurf.com for more information).

Octopus and Baitholder hooks: The choice between these "J" type hooks is dependent on your bait. Baitholders are ideal for small baits such as clams, crabs, squid and worms. Octopus hooks are good for large chunks.

Hook Plating (Color): All hooks have NS Black plating. Occasionally, we may supply hooks with Red plating. There is really nothing special about red since it is the first color of the spectrum to disappear underwater. Anything you may read about red hooks being superior is just marketing hype.

Hook Sizes: Most people use smaller hooks than they should. The following are the basic recommended sizes for Striped Bass, Bluefish, Black or Red Drum.
